#6 - $1.341 billion Splitting J.K. Rowling's novel in two was controversial with fans of the Harry Potter series, but there's no mistaking its part in the film's financial success, something the likes of The Hunger Games are also banking on. With the best performances to date from the young and older cast members alike, this movie was a real experience and thrilling from start to finish as Harry's story reached its end. It's hard for fans of the books to not be slightly niggled by the changes made though, and it's a shame that director David Yates once again neglected a lot of great moments from Rowling's final novel. Had some of those been included, this could have been a true classic. At the box office, it took the finale only nineteen days to hit the $1 billion mark, making it 2011's highest grossing movie by a long way. The end of the Harry Potter franchise came as a huge blow to Warner Bros., so it's no surprise it will return in 2016 with spinoff/prequel Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them starring Eddie Redmayne.
