Release Date: August 12th

Billed As: The strangest of Disney's spate of live action remakes, WITH A GREAT BIG BLOODY FURRY DRAGON.

Hype: If you were lookign for future Disney talent a couple of years ago, there's very, very little chance you would have come across David Lowery's name as a legitimate contender. Aside from his little seen Sundance darling debut, his directing work is limited to only Ain't Them Bodies Saints - a curiously un-Disney film - and his body of work generally doesn't screen of the Mouse House.

But perhaps Disney are learning from their stablemates Marvel - hiring apparently left-field choices just as they're blossoming?

This remake of the 1977 cult classic (it can€™t be classed as a real classic, as it€™s actually not all that great), will see a feral young lad appear in Robert Redford€™s town claiming to be friends with Elliott the dragon.

Now, there have been some concerns over the look of the dragon - which is definitely just a massive cat - but this being Disney, the story and that intangible magic should more than make up for as trivial concerns as aesthetic ones.
