25 Most Powerful Comic Book Movie Villains

9. Absorbing Man (Hulk)

David Banner It's hard to really call this guy "Absorbing Man" at all, but the fact is it was a depiction of the character - albeit a very weird one. In the comics, Absorbing Man is Carl "Crusher" Creel - a boxer and jailed criminal who becomes the Absorbing Man when he drinks a liquid which the Asgardian god Loki laced with rare Asgardian ingredients. In the Hulk movie, he's Bruce Banner's Father, David, and he becomes an on-screen version of the Absorbing Man when he uses his son's nanomed technology on himself. At first, he uses the power to merely merge with a flooring panel, which he uses to knock out a security guard - but then he gets a bit more ambitious. He grabs a nearby power wire, mutating into a large power-absorbing monster and fights his son in his Hulk form. He then merges with rock, which gives him the strength and durability to rival the Hulk in combat - meaning he must be very powerful indeed - before merging with the water in a nearby lake and actually becoming the lake itself to fight the Hulk. He is ultimately killed when General Ross detonates a gamma bomb.
