19. Pyewacket (Laurie Holden)
As fans of witchcraft will be aware, Pyewacket was one of the historically important witch familiars detected by the "witchfinder general" Matthew Hopkins in England in 1644, an imp like companion of a woman who was tortured into unsurprisingly confessing herself to be a witch.
The name is borrowed here for a supernatural thriller from prodigiously talented director Adam MacDonald (who previously made the excellent, under-seen bear-horror Backcountry), in which an emo teen girl accidentally awakens something grim while performing an occult ritual for funsies (and to kill her mother).
Once more Laurie Holden will be playing the matriarch figure, though hopefully this time a little more likeable than she was in The Walking Dead. And it shouldn't come as a surprise, given her TWD character's history that she once again isn't the greatest mother, ignoring the signs that her daughter is dabbling in the occult in her spare time, and doing enough for her to want to literally kill her...
