3 Ups And 7 Downs From X-Men: Apocalypse
3. Sophie Turner's Jean Grey Is A Breathless Mess
So yeah, the screenplay's terrible and the characters are boring, but at least weve got a great cast: McAvoy, Fassbender, Isaac, that kid off EastEnders. None give their best work - especially not Jennifer Lawrence - but they're all capable and understand their characters from the comics enough to add at least a little bit to what isn't in the script.
Well, except for one Sophie Turner. Her Jean Grey is one of the biggest victims of the two-point-arc problem - despite being present for a fair bit of the movie, her clear plot involvement is scant - but the Game Of Thrones actress doesn't do much to elevate this pivotal character. Her struggle with the American accent is obvious, but the line delivery is just consistently flat.
I do like her in Game Of Thrones, but her range has never been that impressive (which admittedly kinda works for a character as unlucky as Sansa Stark), something X-Men only attests to.
