7. Helmut Zemo - Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War)
Helmut Zemo may do little to resemble his comic book counterpart, but he proved to be an extremely refreshing addition to the MCU given how many of the franchise's villains are so thoroughly forgettable.
Zemo had simple motivations which, while not entirely clear until the end of Civil War, weren't a trite world domination scheme but simply a revenge-fueled desire to tear The Avengers apart.
Daniel Bruhl plays the part with icy zeal even though his screen time is fairly minimal throughout, certainly doing much more with the character than many of the MCU's more present villains have.
And you know what ultimately makes Zemo so great? He wins. Sure, he gets captured, but his spectacular job of luring Cap and Iron Man to one location and then springing them on each other is marvelously subversive (as we all surely expected Iron Man, Cap and Bucky to take on Zemo's Super-Soldiers).
He tears The Avengers in two, and we sincerely hope he does return in some capacity.
