30 Horror Movie Survivors Who Probably Wished They'd Died

15. Summer Of 84 - Davey Armstrong

The Loved Ones
Gunpowder & Sky

At the close of this impressive - and, ultimately, unexpectedly brutal - teen horror, main villain Wayne Mackey (Rich Sommer) informs the picture's young protagonist Davey (Graham Verchere) that he's not going to kill him. Instead, he's going to disappear for a while, leaving him living in constant fear and paranoia before he finally comes after him to get his revenge on Davey for exposing his crimes. And with that, Mackey vanishes into the night... but not before murdering one of Davey's young friends.

Wayne knew exactly what he was doing here, and he showed just what a cruel, callous killer he actually was. At the end of the movie, Wayne is still at large, and Davey, a likable kid, is going to be living in fear for the foreseeable future, which will be a miserable existence for him.

Perhaps the authorities would've eventually caught up with Wayne, but even if Davey was no longer living in fear of him, Davey would still be living with the failure to save his friend from Wayne, and also with the memory of discovering a mutilated body in Wayne's basement. In fact, the entire neighbourhood seems broken beyond repair in Summer of 84's closing scenes, and Davey's other friends are shown to be avoiding him.
