30 Horror Movie Survivors Who Probably Wished They'd Died

26. Carrie (2013) - Sue Snell

In the story of Carrie, Carrie White herself is by far the most tragic figure, but by the end, at the very least, she dies and is left at peace. Unfortunately, there is another sad figure in the story, one who is left to live with the consequences of Carrie's rampage, and that is Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde).

In this 2013 remake, Sue was kind of annoying thanks to Wilde's terrible performance in the role, but it's still impossible not to feel bad for the character. She lost her boyfriend and nearly all of her friends to Carrie's rampage at the prom, and alongside the survivor's guilt, she'd have to live with the knowledge that, to some extent, she facilitated the events that led to the prom massacre.

Sue did so by asking her boyfriend Tommy (Ansel Elgort) to take Carrie to the prom instead of her as a way of apologizing for bullying Carrie, but Carrie's main tormenter instead seized this opportunity to play a sick prank on her. Sue's actions partly led to the prom disaster, but this was a result of her trying to do the right thing, which makes it all even more depressing.

The original incarnation of Sue (played by Amy Irving) returned and died in Carrie's ill-judged 1999 sequel, but the remake's version survives and is left to live with her anguish. Oh, and as if that wasn't enough, she's also pregnant with Tommy's child, who now has to grow up without a father.
