12. Hard Rock Zombies (1985)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUEK6FlOmkYIn the town of Grand Guignol, the council has banned gypsies and circuses as well as stage plays that “depict unnatural acts or call into question foreign policy.” This means that when a hard drinking rock band arrives, the powers that be stop their concert, ban music from the radio and prohibit folks from dancing in the street, thus ending the scourge that “causes adolescent sex, pre-marital sex and, worse of all, marital sex.”
They even go as far as killing the band in increasingly graphic ways (including death by strimmer), but all is not lost because the singer knows a tune that raises the dead when played. No sooner have the band returned from the grave, however, than they realize that the council is headed by none other than Adolf Hitler, who’s been hiding out in the town courtesy of a deal he made with Harry Truman.
This leads to the showdown zombie fans have always wanted to see – Nazis versus zombies in Hitler’s basement gas chamber. Hard Rock Zombies may not be big or clever, but it’s surprisingly inventive for a low-budget 80s zombie movie, camp humour and all. Plus, how many movies feature Nazi midgets fighting the undead?
