The current sequel to the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is currently smashing records, such as the record for highest all-time weekly sales of any play at a staggering $2.5 million in December 2018 and gaining critical acclaim, as seen by its 6 wins at the 2018 Tony Awards, at theatres around the globe and a return to the movie theatre could prove equally profitable.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 came out 8 years ago yet still made $1.35 billion at the box office, setting multiple records such as highest worldwide opening weekend (although this record has since fallen multiple times most recently to Endgame).

As more people read the books, watch the films, and experience the world of Harry Potter at theme parks and events across the world the potential audience for the Cursed Child is only increasing. Therefore, growing fan anticipation and inflation could help a returning Harry, Ron and Hermione topple Thanos and the Avengers.

Leading stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have also expanded their impressive resumes with critically acclaimed hits, such as the Swiss Army Man, and box office juggernauts, such as Beauty and the Beast, respectfully.

Working against a returning Harry and co toppling Thanos would be the mixed fan reception to the Cursed Child, as well as the mixed reception to both installments of the Fantastic Beasts series perhaps diluting interest in more visits to Hogwarts.
