4. Rocky
Right Wing? The Rocky franchise was about as simply pro- American and pro- capitalism as it got. Rocky Balboa was a starving boxer with a dream. And with that dream, hard work, a positive attitude and his good nature he became a legend. He remained humble and respectful to America and family values. He's practically a poster child for the Republican Party! Never did he succumb to handouts or pity. He simply worked hard and dedicated himself to moving from poverty to wealth. Then there was Rocky IV which chose to touch on the themes of the Cold War. Rocky is compared and contrasted to the Soviet Union's Ivan Drago. Rocky is happy, personable and an inspiration while Drago is a tasteless killing machine. In the end, the Soviets begin yelling, "Rocky! Rocky!" and Balboa drapes himself in the American flag. You go America.
Anymore? Even though Rocky Balboa was sold as the last in the series, Stallone has stated interest in making a seventh and final Rocky film that would involve themes of old age and perhaps lose the boxing aspect. Fans can also look forward to this November's Grudge Match, which is being touted as the film to unofficially face off Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) and the Raging Bull, Jake LaMotta (Robert DeNiro).
