5 Greatest Animal Actors

2. Moose The Dog

Eddie On Frasier Who would you have thought was the most popular star of TV's Frasier during the show's first few seasons? The eponymous lovably pompous shrink, played by Kelsey Grammar? Breakout star David Hyde Pierce, who played the excellent Niles? You'd be wrong. By the mid to late '90s, the actor receiving more fan mail than any other member of the ensemble cast was Moose, who played Martin's dog, Eddie Crane. It's easy to see why Moose was so popular. Taken on by agency Birds & Animals Unlimited when he was deemed to be a "hyper and destructive" puppy, he was trained so fantastically well that his staring contests with Frasier, which he often won, were written into the script as a long-running joke. He certainly earned his fee of $10,000 per episode. Like Terry before him, Moose also squired a doggy dynasty in the acting stakes. His twin sons shared the role of Eddie when Moose retired towards the end of the show's run, and he shared the role of Skip with his son Enzo in the 2000 hit My Dog Skip.

I am a freelance writer, currently residing in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. I was raised by wolves in the woodlands of Northumberland, but am still posher than Colin Firth having dinner with The Queen. I write all of my pieces by swallowing a cocktail of scrabble tiles and vodka, then regurgitating them over my jotter. Hope this explains the typos.
