5 Iron Man Armors We'd Love To See On Film

2. Bleeding Edge Armor

BleedingedgeFirst Appearance: Invincible Iron Man Vol. 5 #25 Now that we've seen a version of the Extremis armor on film, there's a very good chance that the Bleeding Edge armor could make an appearance in the near future. In the comics, when asked if the Bleeding Edge is an upgrade to Extremis, Tony says, "Nah, this is what comes next." In IM3, Tony's main suit, the Mark XLII, has the ability to fly in separate pieces and wrap itself around Tony's body. He does this through a state-of-the-art computer chip implanted in his left forearm, which allows him to mentally communicate with and control the armor. Bleeding Edge takes this a step further, and is stored within Tony's body using nanoparticles contained in his bones, manifesting itself around him when mentally commanded. The armor system is sleek and more compact (adding only 25 pounds to Tony's body), and can be manipulated to form any type of structure upon his skin (such as weapons and clothes). The suit's repulsors are located around the knuckles, chest, back, and legs, and now function as cameras giving Tony a 360 degree panoramic view around himself. One of the coolest features is the suit's ability to form a lightsaber-like energy sword for Tony to use. The suit is powered by Tony's arc reactor, which was removed at the end of IM3, so if they want to use the Bleeding Edge design in future films some aspects of the suit may need to be tweaked. It does, however, give the filmmakers a chance to redesign the suit, and give Tony the ability to become Iron Man anytime, anywhere, without the need to "suit up."
