5 James Bond Themes That Almost Were

2. Johnny Cash's Cowboy Submission For Thunderball

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3rqS98seNA We all love the man in black. Some of us even long before his death prompting the video for Hurt to be finally played by MTV and his biopic film Walk the Line getting made. So some may be dismayed upon hearing that the beloved Johnny Cash too submitted a Bond song for Thunderball that was also rejected. His submission officially was turned down for containing lyrics too similar to the film's plot, but the polite dishonesty of that statement is immediately brought to light by listening to the song. It doesn't sound like a Bond theme at all. Unless Thunderball was really about James Bond being somehow taken out of the Bahamas to be dropped in a cowboy western as John Wayne's co-star. Then the song would have fit perfectly.
