5 Other Dennis Lehane Novels That Should Be Movies
1. Moonlight Mile
This book would perhaps be one of the simplest to adapt. The sixth book in his Kenzie and Gennaro series is a direct sequel to Gone Baby Gone. Twelve years have passed since the events of Amanda McCready's disappearance and subsequent rescue at the hands of Patrick Kenzie. The now 16 years old Amanda McCready has gone missing again. Patrick and Angie are drawn back into the case that nearly tore them apart.
It is another suspenseful mystery following the links of a chain running through the crime-ridden underbelly of Boston. A place Lehane is comfortably familiar with at this point. We got to see Patrick, Angie and Amanda out-play and out smart the worst the city has to offer. This movie would not be expensive to make and it already has Gone Baby Gone to establish it among the audience. You might think an eight year gap is too long to wait to produce a sequel but movie audiences have shown over the last year that we don't mind nostalgia.
Casting choices:
This one is pretty simple. just bring back the main cast of Gone Baby Gone and find a young talented actress to play the adolescent Amanda. The whole movie really hinges on her role. I'd cast someone like Elle Fanning or Hailee Steinfeld.
