1. It's Time For Dinosaurs To Rule The Earth Again
If you were old enough to remember the summer of 1993, then you remember the effect Jurassic Park had beyond just taking the world by storm and decimating the box office. As an adult, you witnessed children fall in love with dinosaurs; as one of those children, you started learning as many names of species as you could. When the Tyrannosaurus triumphantly roared at the end, adult and child alike couldn't help but imagine living in a world where dinosaurs could truly be brought back to life. By 2001, the series had lost a lot of its luster and Jurassic Park III failed to provide the type of grand, game-changing spectacle that the original film had done. Since that time, much of the world has changed: Social media keeps people's attention spans at their shortest, big budget special effects are the norm and every other weekend often sees the release of a movie that catches social fire before audiences move onto the next. No one can pretend that Jurassic World is going to break the type of special effects ground that the original film did simply by virtue of historical film-making circumstance, but at a time when superheroes, transforming sentient beings and even apes are owning the box office, it's time for dinosaurs to get another shot. The passage of time and the lasting appeal of the franchise means the film is guaranteed to make money, but if the film manages to overcome the general audience's sense of "Oh, they made another one?" and fall even close both creatively and entertainingly to the original, then maybe a new generation of kids can put their phones down and see why their own parents grew up wanting to take a trip to Jurassic Park.
