5 Things That Must Be In The Wolverine Sequel

1. Introduce X-23

One of the biggest appeals of Wolverine as a character is his tragic back story. This has been the focus of 2003's X2: X-Men United and 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. These movies have played that angle out, so focusing on his origin in any greater detail would be redundant and ultimately pointless. The ending of The Wolverine saw Logan willing to move on with his life, to let go of his pain, and find his purpose in life (presumably with the X-Men). However, what if the same terrible things that happened to Logan were forced onto someone else, with the expressed purpose of simply trying to recreate Weapon X. This is where X-23 comes in. For anyone unfamiliar with the character, X-23 was created in 2003 for the animated series X-Men: Evolution and was later introduced to the comics. In her original origin, she is a female clone of Wolverine with the same healing factor and bone claws (two in her hands and one in each foot). She was then subjected to the same traumatic adamantium bonding process and subsequent brainwashing to be used as a weapon. Her mission was to kill Wolverine and serve her masters (Hydra in the comics). X-23 would be an excellent addition to the Fox-Marvel Cinematic Universe. Aside from her basically being a female version of Wolverine, she also has a great origin and personal conflicts which are relatable. She doesn't understand why she exists or why she was made to suffer in such a way. This also presents a dilemma for Logan as he is indirectly responsible for her conflict and can empathize with her. This world needs more female superheroes in movies and centering a plot around X-23 would be a great start. Perhaps whatever organization that Viper from The Wolverine was working for could be involved in this process. Well bub, that's the list for now.
