5 Underrated Arnold Schwarzenegger Movies (And 1 That Is Not)

1. Last Action Hero (1993) The underrated classic that is Last Action Hero was doomed from the beginning. Released in 1993, it opened up against one of the biggest cinema events in film history in Steven Spielberg€™s Jurassic Park and was soundly defeated. It did not help that the film was not a typical Schwarzenegger action vehicle and more a self-referential action comedy that pokes as much fun at Schwarzenegger as it does the films people love him for. Dinosaurs were always going to win. Last Action Hero is actually a very clever and witty film. It plays with genre conventions at will as Schwarzenegger's Slater parodies all the characters he has ever played. The films over-the-top action/mixed with more serious action once Slater enters the real world give the film a great variety of set-pieces, from an insane funeral shoot out to a gritty New York City chase scene that is firmly rooted in reality. It is just a wonderfully bizarre film. The humour in Arnie€™s performance is the best he€™s done, taking shots at his career in a playfully amusing way throughout. The most underrated of Schwarzenegger€™s catalogue by far. And one Arnie film that is not so good...
