5 Ways The Harry Potter Franchise Could Be Expanded Even Further

2. A TV Series

Television was hardly a fashionable medium when the rights to Harry Potter were first optioned. Fast forward almost two decades and it is now regarded as equal if not superior to film when it comes to the presentation of compelling storytelling.

The novels themselves can surely never be adapted again, even though you'd imagine that somebody like HBO could certainly do justice to them in a more flexible running time. It's not hard to imagine the cable giant or a streaming provider like Netflix or Amazon leaping at the opportunity to bring a huge franchise onboard in a different capacity though, perhaps green-lighting multiple shows together as Netflix have already done successfully with their Marvel properties.

As with graphic novels, ideas could come from anywhere. Twists on television staples like the police or legal drama would be possible by featuring the Department For Magical Law Enforcement, whilst a Friday Night Lights-esque Quidditch drama or a West Wing/House Of Cards style take on the Ministry Of Magic as a whole are all readily imaginable. Whatever form it might take, Rowling and Warner Bros would be foolish to not attempt to tap into the medium at some point given its ascension.
