50 Huge Movie Characters That Were Completely Miscast

To say that they were once part of the biggest TV series in the world, there haven't been too many of the Game of Thrones cast to have seen their careers skyrocket off the back of the show.

There have been exceptions, of course, and certainly opportunities. Look at Sophie Turner, who in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse assumed the role of a young Jean Grey. For such an iconic and important character, with such a crucial role to play in the future of the franchise, this was a puzzling casting choice to say the least.

As Sansa Stark, Sophie Turner had shown she could portray a strong and powerful, yet vulnerable woman, but none of that shone through as Jean Grey. It was hard to see too much past the distractingly bad American accent, but even ignoring that, there wasn't much in the performance to suggest it was worthy of leading any X-Men film.

While she wasn't exactly helped by poor writing and two incredibly underwhelming stories in Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, Turner's rather wooden performance fell far short of what Famke Janssen had brought to the character, and at no point felt believable as one of the most powerful people on the planet. It almost feels like they cast her based on her post-Game of Thrones name, and the fact that she had red hair.
