There are some actors that were seemingly born to play certain roles, and it's hard to imagine anyone else doing it. Sometimes these are left alone, and audiences will never have to see what happens when someone else does try, but unfortunately that's not the case with Han Solo.

Unequivocally one of the most popular characters in Star Wars history, Solo was elevated far higher than he may have been otherwise by Harrison Ford. The actor gave the character everything that made him special, to the point that to imagine someone else stepping into those shoes was unthinkable.

Enter Alden Ehrenreich. Look, with Lucasfilm making Solo: A Star Wars Story, some poor actor was going to attempt to be Han Solo and struggle, and while Ehrenreich is a fine actor, a young Harrison Ford he ain't. In fairness, outside of stellar de-aging technology or an actual time machine, no one would be, but Ehrenreich in this instance feels like a particularly bad choice.

He had none of Solo's swagger, none of his rebellious charm, and even Lucasfilm were reportedly unhappy with his performance as they hired an acting coach during production. It begs to be asked how it got to this stage with such an arduous audition process, but though the outcome is that Ehrenreich wasn't right to play a young Harrison Ford, in reality no one would have been.
