50 Huge Movie Characters That Were Completely Miscast
8. Emilia Clarke As Sarah Connor - Terminator: Genisys
As said toward the beginning of this list, you would have thought that after appearing as some of the most popular characters in one of the most revered TV shows of all time, the main cast of Game of Thrones would have all but strapped a rocket to their careers and gone from strength to strength.
With few exceptions, this didn't happen, though it's not as though some didn't try. But, as Sophie Turner just wasn't right for Jean Grey, neither was Emilia Clarke the one to play Sarah Connor. It's not like she was the only casting misstep the Terminator franchise has ever taken, but she is easily the weakest Sarah to date.
Ironic, as the legendary character is one of the strongest and most iconic female leads in history. It was always going to be tough to live up to Linda Hamilton, but in Terminator: Genisys, Clarke fell way short.
That strength and that power, the charisma and, for lack of a better word, badassery simply weren't there in the same way they were for Hamilton, or even ironically Clarke's Thrones co-star Lena Heady in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. This is what happens when you bring an actor into a project in an attempt to cash in on their popularity, rather than whether or not they are actually right for the part.
