50 Infuriating Horror Movie Characters We All Secretly Wanted To Die
30. Kia Waterson - Freddy Vs. Jason
Freddy Vs. Jason, the long-awaited showdown between Jason Vorhees and Freddy Krueger, is a fun-enough horror B-movie if you're in the right mood. Inevitably, people came to see the titular characters, but the human leads, though forgettable, are just fine for the most part. The exception is Kia Waterson (Kelly Rowland).
This one is another case of bad writing and bad acting combining in an imperfect storm. Kia's a grating character who spends the movie being generally off-putting, especially when she's picking on a nerdier character for no particular reason, while Kelly Rowland proved beyond any reasonable doubt that she should stick to pop music. She was not good in this role at all.
There's also the moment where she abruptly yells a homophobic slur at Freddy, a jarring scene that the movie's writers subsequently called a stain on the movie. Writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift didn't actually write this line and were bewildered and displeased when they heard it at the first screening. They asked for it to be removed, to no avail.
