50 Infuriating Horror Movie Characters We All Secretly Wanted To Die
29. Last Night In Soho - Jocasta
Last Night in Soho, an inconsistently-written but technically brilliant supernatural horror from the great Edgar Wright, is a movie that constantly challenges your expectations - for better or for worse. Alongside the many rug-pulls regarding the true nature of the visions that protagonist Ellie (Thomasin McKenzie) experiences, it also allows the movie's requisite b***h character to get through the whole film without dying.
Jocasta (Synnøve Karlsen) is Ellie's roommate from Hell, who spends the flick treating Ellie like trash just because she can. At one point, she even bets that Ellie will slash her wrists before Christmas. As such, most probably assumed that Jocasta would snuff it by the end, but no, she makes it all the way through. There's a moment where Ellie nearly stabs her during one of her hallucinations, but Jocasta survives and even goes to Ellie's fashion show at the end for some reason.
This is a similar case to The Nun II's Simone. The film spends all this time building up such a monumentally unlikable character only to do nothing with her by the end, and the whole thing would've been so much better without her.
