50 Infuriating Horror Movie Characters We All Secretly Wanted To Die
16. The Final Destination - Almost Everyone
The Final Destination series takes a lot from slasher cinema, and as such, you can usually expect there to be at least one character you don't really want to see escape Death's design. 2009's franchise-worst instalment takes this to another level, as there's pretty much no-one here you'll want to see survive.
Well, there's kind-hearted security guard George Lanter (Forrest Gump's Mykelti Williamson), who's sympathetic, has a tiny bit of a story, and benefits from Williamson giving the one good performance in the movie. He's the exception; otherwise, there's no-one else to root for, making this whole film even more torturous to watch.
In terms of deliberately hateful characters, there are two: Hunt (Nick Zano) and Carter (Justin Welborn). Hunt is a cringe-inducingly unpleasant jock, but not in an entertaining way like the best horror douchebags are, while Carter is a violent racist who tries to attack George (and dies while doing so). Those two are vile, but what about the rest?
Nope, there's nobody else to like. Nick and Lori (Bobby Campo and Shantel VanSanten) are the most boring Final Destination leads ever, their friend Janet (Haley Webb) is a wimpy cry-baby, and fellow survivor Samantha (Krista Allen) is a weirdo who, for noise protection, puts tampons in her kid's ears. Right.
As for the other characters, they're so underdeveloped that it's impossible to care, and viewers will be hoping for the next death scene just so that something interesting can actually happen.
