Everyone hated this guy. Everyone

Brilliant South Korean zombie flick Train to Busan features one of the most selfish characters in the history of the horror genre - this corrupt businessman who spends the entire film pushing the other, far more likable characters into the path of the zombies so that he can survive.

Towards the end, Yon-suk even pushes a high school student to her death in one of the movie's most upsetting scenes. Shortly after, a train conductor tries to help him, but Yon-suk responds as only he would, by throwing this man to the zombies. And yes, Yon-suk does eventually get bitten, but this isn't nearly as satisfying as it could've been, as he then bites and infects the movie's protagonist Seok-woo (Gong Yoo), so audiences are denied any catharsis here.

Aside from Yon-suk representing the apex of callous self-interest, what makes this guy so disgusting is that there's something so matter-of-fact about him. He doesn't give any big speeches or cackle; he represents the banal kind of evil, and he's also driven by the primal instinct to survive. As much as one hopes that there aren't many people like this out there, Yon-suk is still scarily believable.
