43. Sonic The Hedgehog

It might not have started well, thanks to the slightly unfortunate decision to tease Sonic's live action look with a silhouette motion poster that suggested he's got over-long, over-buff legs, but there's still a lot of reasons to be excited by a Sonic The Hedgehog movie.

The live action film will star Parks And Recreations' Ben Schwartz as the blue speedster, James Marsden as his human partner and - even more excitingly - Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik. If it's self-conscious enough, it could be great, though it's hard to get much of a hint from new director Jeff Fowler's career to date or his writing team of Patrick Casey, Josh Miller and Oren Uziel, so it's a little bit of an unknown quantity. At least Sony have a good track record in animation.

Hopefully, this will be the year that video game movies actually get it right with Pokemon and Sonic leading the charge. Stranger things have happened.
