50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2022
22. Asteroid City
Before most of the world had even seen his long-delayed The French Dispatch, Wes Anderson had already wrapped shooting his next film, Asteroid City.
A romantic dramedy the particulars of which remain secret for now, it nevertheless boasts arguably the best and certainly the biggest cast of any Anderson film to date, and that's really saying something.
Take a big breath while we run down the cast: Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Rupert Friend, Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Jeff Goldblum, Hope Davis, Jeffrey Wright, Liev Schreiber, Tony Revolori, Matt Dillon, Sophia Lillis, Maya Hawke, and Fisher Stevens. Wow.
You know what you're getting here: witty dialogue, impossibly symmetrical imagery, and a whole lot of pastel shades.
Asteroid City releases later this year.
21. Jurassic World: Dominion
As disappointing as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was, it at least ended with a compelling sequel hook, as a host of genetically engineered dinosaurs were let loose in the U.S., the fallout of which will presumably be this threequel's focus.
But surely the most compelling hook will be the return of Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum in the roles of Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm, in parts that are apparently far more than mere cameos.
By bringing the distinct eras of Jurassic Park together, this should at least be some easy nostalgia-laced fun, even if it's hard to be much enthusiastic about Colin Trevorrow returning as both co-writer and director.
Jurassic World: Dominion releases on June 10.
