50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2022
8. Mission: Impossible 7
Having been delayed more than a year from its original release date last summer, Mission: Impossible 7 will finally (hopefully) release this coming September, following an extremely lengthy shoot amid pandemic-related restrictions.
In addition to all the usual cast members returning, Hayley Atwell joins the roster as a new foil, while undisclosed parts will be played by Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Rob Delaney, and Cary Elwes.
Also, Vanessa Kirby is back as the White Widow introduced in Fallout, and Henry Czerny will reprise the role of former IMF director Kittridge last seen in the original film.
Who knows what the plot's going to be, but given some of the utterly bonkers set pieces Cruise has been out there shooting - including driving a motorcycle off a cliff into a parachute jump - there's clearly the hunger to top the series' barmy heights once again.
Better yet, the eighth film has already been shooting for several months and is due to drop in July 2023.
Mission: Impossible 7 releases on September 30.
7. Thor: Love & Thunder
Thor: Ragnarok represented such a major step-up for the Thor franchise that it's impossible not to be massively excited for the fourth film, given that Taika Waititi will be returning as director and also co-writing the script this time around.
The sequel will adapt aspects of Jason Aaron's Mighty Thor comic book run, centered around Jane Foster (a returning Natalie Portman) taking up the Thor mantle while suffering from cancer.
In addition to Christian Bale playing the villainous Gorr the God Butcher, the Guardians of the Galaxy will also appear, as well as the long-absent Sif (Jaimie Alexander), and cameos from the likes of Matt Damon, Sam Neill, Luke Hemsworth, Melissa McCarthy, and Russell Crowe are already confirmed.
Thor: Love and Thunder releases on July 8.
