50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2022
46. Prey
After 2018's The Predator was a colossal disappointment, it'll relieve many fans of the franchise that this new take is an altogether more modest affair - a lower-budget prequel set 300 years in the past, revolving around a Predator facing off against a Comanche warrior (Amber Midthunder).
Without the pressures of a massive budget or all-star cast, and with the talented Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) directing, hopefully this can restore some of the glory that The Predator, in all of its OTT excess, was massively lacking.
If the decline of mid-budget movies theatrically is going to make some franchises better-suited for streaming, it seems likely that Predator could very well be one of them. If Prey lives up to the hype, hopefully it'll kickstart a new run of quality stories set in this universe.
Prey will release on Hulu (and Disney+ Star internationally) this summer.
45. Jackass Forever
Much as it seemed like 2010's Jackass 3D was going to be the last cinematic word on this deceptively charming franchise, it's back for "one last ride" with Jackass Forever.
Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and company are comfortably now in middle-age, a fact that this film seems to be leaning into rather than ignoring if the marketing is any indication.
And as easy as it'd be for Jackass to seem completely passe in 2022, the likeability of the central clan and the general underlying goofy sweetness of their crude escapades makes it easy to believe this'll be a nostalgia-doused belated sequel that really works.
Jackass Forever releases on February 4.
