49. Jess - Blink Twice

In 2024, actor ZoĆ« Kravitz told a chilling story about violence towards women. Starring Naomi Ackie and Channing Tatum, Blink Twice did not make for easy viewing.

After hitting it off with billionaire Slater King (Tatum), waitress Frida (Ackie) gets taken to his island for a getaway along with her friend Jess (Alia Shawkat) and a bunch of other people. However, the reason everything seemed too good to be true was because it was, and there were some truly unspeakable things going on.

On Slater's private island, the women that the group of men had brought with them were abused, tortured, and assaulted every night before being pumped with a drug that made them completely forget. The next day, they were back to enjoying their holiday, shrugging off any lingering injuries as drunken mishaps, before the cycle would begin again.

Frida, however, noticed that her friend Jess went missing, only for none of the other girls to know who she was talking about. She eventually found a way to gradually bring her memories back, and had to relive the unfathomable moment she watched her friend get killed before her very eyes.

A harrowing moment, in a harrowing film.
