50 Movie Death Scenes That Left You TRAUMATISED

25. Daisy - John Wick

All the Bright Places
Lionsgate

The story of how Keanu Reeves' John Wick was brought back into the world of assassins and violence after achieving the seemingly impossible feat of getting out is now legendary. When Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen) killed his dog, Daisy, he had little choice but to go into full 'Baba Yaga' mode to make those responsible suffer.

The significance of what Tarasov did to Daisy is downplayed somewhat by various villains throughout the John Wick series, insinuating that everything he did, he did because of "just a dog". But this dog represented so much more than a companion to John.

After his wife passed, she gifted Daisy to her husband as he needed something to love. Naturally, he embraced her not only as something to love in a world that had just taken his partner from him, but also as a lasting connection to Helen that he was able to cherish.

So, when Iosef killed the dog, simply because his ego was bruised when John refused to be bullied into selling his car to him, he took away just about everything the man had left. That, and the whimper with which Daisy left this world, made it such a heartbreaking scene, that led to the satisfying vengeance he was ultimately able to find.
