6 Places The Soul Stone Might Turn Up In The MCU

Barring Infinity War itself, Thor: Ragnarok seems the most likely place the Soul Stone will appear.

Cate Blanchett's Hela is set to be the central villain, and being the ruler of the Underworld and a collector of damned souls, it seems plausible that she might be in possession of the elusive gem. Given that the Soul Stone can steal and control souls, as well as open a gateway to a Heaven-like pocket universe, Hel seems a likely location for it.

In the comics, Thanos is in love with Lady Death (a fact referenced in The Avengers' stinger), and wants to assemble the Infinity Stones to woo her. There is a convincing fan theory that Hela will take this role in Infinity War, which makes sense since a) hiring an actress as talented as Cate Blanchett to appear as a throwaway villain in one film seems pointless, and b) most of the groundwork in establishing her character will have been done, which once again saves on precious screen time.

If this is the case, having the Soul Stone held by the object of Thanos' affection creates an interesting dynamic, and could lead to either an unholy alliance or a devastating battle.
