6 Things The Birds Of Prey Movie Must Do

4. Tight Action Sequences

Comic book movies have action sequences; that’s just a no brainer. But while it can sometimes seem like just people beating each other up and firing guns all over the shop, film fans know that each action sequence is as tightly choreographed as any ballet.

It’s hard to associate the action in Suicide Squad with ballet though. The Bohemian Rhapsody bit the trailers showed us was well timed, but it was spliced afterwards, not planned in the style of Baby Driver. Other than that, it often felt like director David Ayer had simply spilled a bucket of explosions and set the camera rolling. Justice League suffered a similar fate, though were it not for the tragic circumstances around Zack Snyder’s departure it might have been more reminiscent of his underrated cult movie Sucker Punch.

However, Birds Of Prey lacks the scale to compete with those in any case. Some of the best action sequences in years have been small scale, realistic scuffles. John Wick is the pinnacle, but Atomic Blonde reached similar heights. DCs main rival Marvel had arguably their best action sequence in the fist fight between Captain America and the Winter Soldier. Birds Of Prey must follow a similar route.
