6 Ways James Bond Could Change For The Modern World
4. Make Him 007 For The Right Reasons
Since M's iconic verbal beasting, in Goldeneye, Bond has been dubbed among other things, a 'relic of The Cold War'. It was a fun handle which showed how outdated some of 007's more unsavoury morals were. But now's the time we saw a significant jump from this.
A James Bond who has a disgruntled longing for the old days is really not going to cut it with audiences. If the franchise hopes to survive, then the handle of an out-of-time secret agent has to go.
James Bond’s candidacy for 007 status should be borne from an active forward-thinking desire to operate in the modern world, embrace it and act as its champion. As before, this is a reworking of the outgoing nature of Moore and Connery, who were very much 'of' their time.
Audiences are now able to accept the idea that the 007 of today is not the same person from 60 years ago, and so seeing him embrace 2020 society will be an acceptable evolution of his character.
