3. The Authority

Many people probably are unfamiliar with this team. For those of you out of the loop, The Authority is a group of superheroes who decide to take the worlds safety into their own hands. Any collateral damage along the way is forgivable, since its for the greater good. Also, theres Midnighter. This series follows the tradition set by Watchmen where they deconstruct and analyze the role that superheroes might occupy in a realistic setting. These are flawed, complex characters that are fascinating to read. The plotline can sometimes get outlandish, but the core of the story is believable and compelling. How much authority should we give superheroes? Also, Midnighter is awesome. Just saying.
