7 Movies That May Just Have Predicted The Future of Humanity

3. Blade Runner

CA.0919.bladeWhat It Is: Ridley Scott's brilliant science fiction, neo-noir film. In it, Harrison Ford plays Rick Deckard, a policeman sent to track down three criminal replicants - or humanoid robots - that have escaped from an off-world colony and are now hiding out on Earth. He soon learns that the three are after their creator, Eldon Tyrell, and plan to kill him. How It May Have Predicted the Future: It's an interesting contrast to Robot & Frank, which features us inviting robots into our homes and caring for our elderly, Blade Runner gives us an alternative viewpoint. It shows humans as hating and fearing the replicants, who are used solely for dangerous and off-world operations. In fact, humans hate and fear these replicants so much that they're not allowed on Earth, and there's even a separate police force solely for hunting down and destroying any that find their way onto our planet. Finally, when these replicants are built they're given only four years to live before they die. If robots ever become common and used by the majority, there'll probably only be two ways they're treated... with friendship as in Robot & Frank, or with fear and hatred as in Blade Runner.
