As a film with a much more family tone comes Disney's Sky High released in 2005. It follows the story of one boy with famous superhero parents, who has no powers in a school where everyone has them - in which he will be labelled a hero or a sidekick for life.

The film is filled with colourful comedy and even includes some famous stars such as Guardians of The Galaxy's Kurt Russell, and should be a movie that everyone adds on to their watch list just to experience a fresher version of the genre.

The narrative almost parodies school dramas and famous superhero films that dominate the box offices every year, looking at the consequences of a world in which many supers are given the worst combination of powers - one of his friends literally turns in to a guinea pig, when would that be useful?

Although the visual effects and acting are at points a little sketchy, the film overall offers a new take on the superhero design with regular laughs and messages that can connect the whole family.
