The Movie:

In the second instalment of The Conjuring franchise, Annabelle follows the narrative of expectant parents John and Mia who are attacked by Satan worshippers after they committed murder next door to the couple.

One of the attackers named Annabelle kills herself within the nursery of their home whilst holding a porcelain doll who is then seemingly possessed and later causes paranormal events to occur.

The True Story:

In the paranormal investigator’s real museum situated on their own property, the couple hosted a variety of locked up demonic objects. Annabelle the doll is one of them.

A student nurse in 1968 gave the doll to the Warrens after claiming it was possessed with the spirit of a little girl with the same name. She was scared for her child who had been a victim of the doll’s antics, including notes being left around the home and the figure moving from room to room.

The last straw came as she returned to her home to discover the doll with blood on its hands and her husband covered in scratches.

Ed and Lorraine claimed the doll was not possessed but that a spirit had attached itself to it, agreeing to take her away.

She resides today inside a glass box sealed with a special set of prayers. A priest visits and blesses the museum regularly. Even now, with both investigators deceased, the couples' daughter and her husband watch over the objects.
