7 Villains It'd Be Great To See Hinted At In The Amazing Spider-Man 2

5. Morlun

Morlun Morlun is another villain who, while not a classic Spider-Man rogue, is a brilliant character who would be a great threat to Spider-Man on the big screen. When Peter Parker met a character called Ezekiel - a man with similar powers to his own - he warned him that Spider-Man's powers were not an accident. He explained that the spider that had bitten him did so voluntarily to pass its abilities onto Peter before it died. This made Spider-Man a "totem" - a bridge between man and beast, with the properties of both. Ezekiel then warned Spider-Man that, as a totem, he was in danger from those who would seek to destroy such beings. One of those, who showed up soon after, was Morlun. Morlun was created by magical entities to track down and hunt members of a special group that possessed such "totemic powers" like Spider-Man. He is virtually unstoppable and his blood contains the DNA of every single living creature: Insects, birds, reptiles, humans and spiders along with several others. He tormented Spider-Man by stalking him - toying with his Spider-Sense in the process - before eventually attacking him (punching him with what Spider-Man described as the hardest punch he'd ever been hit with). After this first encounter, following their physical contact, Morlun told Spider-Man that he would now be able to find him wherever he went and that he would eventually kill him. He stayed true to his word and eventually did exactly that - ripping his eye out and eating it in front of him, before following him to hospital and killing him there (though not without dying himself, as Parker's feral side emerged and he bit Morlun in the neck). Morlun possesses superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes and durability. He is capable of absorbing life-force through physical contact and his appearance in the Spider-Man movie universe would surely signify the end of the franchise and Peter's death - but a hint towards him, indicating that the franchise would be closing with his killing of Parker, would be both brilliant and concerning. A very cool way to hint at him in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 would be to have Spider-Man meet a mysterious stranger (Ezekiel) who warns him about a being who kills his kind. The eagle-eyed and eared people amongst fans will instantly recognise this as a reference to Morlun, who they would now know was destined to appear in live action at some point.
