3. Ethan Rayne

Ethan Rayne, played by the late, great Robin Sachs in the television series, could be a very surprising and interesting villain if a Buffy movie is ever made. Rayne is an old friend of Rupert Giles' - Buffy's watcher - back from the days when Giles was a bit of a rebel and experimented with dark magic (calling himself "Ripper"). Unlike Giles, however, Rayne didn't reform. In the television series, Rayne would sporadically appear in Sunnydale and cause havoc - and the cool thing about him is that it was usually city-wide havoc. His spells would generally spread across Sunnydale like wildfire, causing chaos for Buffy, Giles and their friends. Examples are when he opened a costume shop and cursed the costumes inside, so that all the people dressing up on Halloween became whatever they were dressed as, and the time he cursed the chocolate he was selling to make adults who eat it act like teenagers. A more malevolent scheme for Rayne in a movie would be an interesting idea - giving Buffy something to battle across Sunnydale whilst Giles also comes to terms with confronting his past. A multi-layered movie plot of that nature could work very well.
