The career of Guy Pearce seems to be a roller coaster. Whenever it seems like he's about to fade into obscurity, he's signed to some big blockbuster (Prometheus, Iron Man 3) and we are assured at least a few more years of his wondrous screen presence, even if it's smaller parts in big films such as King's Speech or the Hurt Locker. For my money, he's a criminally underrated actor and should be given the lead in summer tentpoles as well as Oscar bait films, but despite his lack of top billing, his versatility guarantees him consistent work for years to come. The disappointment in this year's Prometheus didn't change the fact that he played his part as the conniving millionaire Peter Weyland to perfection, both old and young. He's unforgettable as Leonard in Christopher Nolan's Memento (Get it? Unforgettable. Because, you know, he's like... All right, fine, just forget it.) and his breakthrough performance as a drag queen in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is still seen at midnight screenings across America. There is no type for which Guy Pearce could be cast, except type: awesome. Did you like that? I thought it was clever... Just like the unforgettable thing-- Fine! I'll get off it. Moving on...
