In fairness to Taron Egerton, he won't be the most miscast Robin Hood of all time as that honour will always got to Kevin Costner, but the Kingsman actor is a poor fit for English folklore nonetheless.

The Kingsman movies have propelled Egerton to Hollywood star status and are what most people know him for, but his stint as chav hero Eggsy is hardly the ideal preparation for Robin of Loxley.

Firstly, Egerton plays an exaggerated version of himself in the Kingsman series, and this kind of thing might have gone down well in a more lighthearted Robin Hood reboot, but Otto Bathurst's origin tale is being touted as a gritty reimagining that takes its tonal cues from Peaky Blinders.

So this version of the Prince of Thieves will likely be a brooding anti-hero, scarred by the Crusades. In other words, not a bleeding thing like any of the characters Egerton has made a name for himself playing.
