8. Destroy A Mothership Independence Day
Hillbilly drunkard and alien abduction victim Russell Casse is the brunt of all the extraterrestrial jokes thrown his way by the ignorant people of Earth. So when ET and co. actually decide to show up in Roland Emmerich's 'Independence Day', we could understand if Casse chose to sit there smugly and say 'I told you so'. Instead the hero of the hour 'sees off' his bevvy and fires up his plane. Whilst Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum mess about with computers and stuff, Russell Casse does what any intoxicated person would do fly a plane head first into the deadly laser of an alien mother-ship. Using inter-planetary warfare rules that only he knows, Emmerich leads us to believe that this light-aircraft has enough explosive power to blow up a spaceship big enough to cast Manhattan in shadow. Maybe if he'd thought about it a little longer, Casse might not have rushed into such a decision so quickly but hey, we all make rash decisions when drunk, right?
