7. The Alternative Ending (Iron Man 2)

Instead of Vanko donning his Whiplash armour and fighting Iron Man and War Machine, the two heroes were meant to simply team up against a horde of Hammer drone and Vanko was simply meant to hold Pepper Potts hostage. This deleted scene shows that a combination of Stark, Potts and Rhodes would ultimately have prevented him from hurting her, however. But it's easy to see why Jon Favreau opted to discard this scene and go with the ending that reached theatres, because it was extremely anticlimactic. The tone is completely different to the rest of the film and it just doesn't feel right (and that's not just because the CGI is nowhere near complete). Moreover, the "ex-wife" missile works in this scene, which would have robbed audiences of the humorous moment in which it pathetically fizzled out in the final cut.
