8 Captain America: Civil War Characters Guaranteed To Disappoint

2. Thunderbolt Ross

In case you weren't aware, the original plan for The Avengers when Zak Penn was on writing duties was for Earth's Mightiest Heroes to battle it out with The Hulk. That's why Tony Stark approached General Ross at the end of The Incredible Hulk. Everything changed when Joss Whedon came on board however (he's had nothing good to say about what Penn had in store for the superhero team). While it's pretty cool that Captain America: Civil War is going to bring good old Thunderbolt Ross back to build on what we saw in the Jade Giant's second forgettable solo outing, those going into this movie under the belief that he'll be transforming into the Red Hulk thanks to the rumours which have been doing the rounds are set to be sorely disappointed. The concept of Ross being a red version of The Hulk was stupid enough in the comic books, so cramming that into this movie will do little more than leave moviegoers scratching their head over what exactly they're watching. Unfortunately, those suckered in by this rumour/theory are expecting to see something that's never going to make it into a Marvel movie, and Ross' role is unlikely to be more any more than a bureaucrat who continues to make his disdain for superheroes clear and drops a few mentions of The Hulk. He could offer some surprises of course, but there won't be any transformations for the General.
