4. Martin Brest Was Fired Because His Actors Didn't Look Like They Were Having Any Fun - WarGames
Martin Brest was the guy who brought us defining works such as
Gigli, so it's probably good that he got given the sack on Matthew Broderick '80s hacker flick
WarGames, 'cause he might have made the worst movie ever twenty-five years before he did it with J-Lo and Ben Affleck. Still, Brest was fired not because he did anything particularly wrong, but because - according to producer Leonard Goldberg - the actors in the dailies didn't look like they were having enough "fun." Given the premise of the movie, he wanted it to be far less serious than what Brest was doing with it, so he thought it'd be better to just send the guy packing towards his fruitful destiny as the director of Gigli. He was replaced by John Badham, but some Brest footage remains in the film.
