While there's always been a brighter tone to Spider-Man than other contemporary superhero movies (sometimes unintentional with the camp of Raimi's first or Webb's second film), what's never really been got across on screen is his penchant for humour. Andrew Garfield's iteration certainly had more of it than Maguire's - that whole car thief exchange is prime Spidey - but it still didn't quite get across the character's irreverent attitude. Well, you can (finally) rest easy - the writers of the film have confirmed that humour is going to play a big part in the film. This is less of a novel development than it would have been ten years ago, given how prevalent Marvel's brand of humour has become, but this will be a little different (and more befitting of master of the quip Spider-Man) that the usual Tony Stark-style barbs. When first publicly discussing the film, Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley gushed about how exciting their next screenwrting was, putting particular focus on how they like how Peter uses humour as a way to deal with the struggles of being an outcast. So he's not just going to be cracking wise; he's going to be doing it for a reason.
