8 Famous Actors Who Beefed With Disney
5. Kirk Douglas
Kirk Douglas, star of the Disney film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, was by all accounts very happy working with the company. His beef with Disney, unlike most of the actors in this list, didn't actually relate to any film he (willingly) starred in.
Back in 1956, Douglas visited Walt Disney's Holmby Hills estate with his two sons, Joel and Michael (you might have heard of that last one). The three of them took a ride on a model railway called the Carolwood Pacific, then presumably headed home for the day.
Unbeknownst to them, they were secretly being recorded the entire time. The footage of their family day out ended up on a TV show called Where Do Stories Come From. Douglas wrote them a letter saying that he "would prefer that [they] never use film of my kids and me on a commercial program". Even though he received a letter of apology back, a re-run of the show aired two months later.
Douglas sued Disney claiming an invasion of privacy on his children's behalf, and named Walt Disney himself in the claim. Just before it went to trial Douglas dropped the case, stating rather ominously that "you can't sue God".
