7. The Prestige The first of two Christopher Nolan entries here. With The Prestige, Nolan chose to make a film on a much smaller scale than his previous effort Batman Begins. With just as much ambition, the film takes many twists and turns, making us love characters one minute, and hate them the next. This eventually comes to a head with honestly one of the only times Ive been left speechless at the end of a film. As we see one of the protagonist/antagonist characters die because of anothers jealousy, the world unravels around the villain of the piece. When it seems Hugh Jackman has gotten away with countless murders, he is shot..by the man he thought hed just put in the ground. Christian Bales twin, who had been in disguise the whole film, kills Jackman in cold blood, leaving Michael Cane to proclaim that we all want to be fooled.
