8 Films With Bad-Ass Final Scenes

7. The Prestige

The first of two Christopher Nolan entries here. With The Prestige, Nolan chose to make a film on a much smaller scale than his previous effort Batman Begins. With just as much ambition, the film takes many twists and turns, making us love characters one minute, and hate them the next. This eventually comes to a head with honestly one of the only times I€™ve been left speechless at the end of a film. As we see one of the protagonist/antagonist characters die because of another€™s jealousy, the world unravels around the €œvillain€ of the piece. When it seems Hugh Jackman has gotten away with countless murders, he is shot€..by the man he thought he€™d just put in the ground. Christian Bale€™s twin, who had been in disguise the whole film, kills Jackman in cold blood, leaving Michael Cane to proclaim that we all €œwant to be fooled€.

As a pretty nerdy guy, I've loved film and television since I was a wee lad. Growing up in Ireland, The Den was the show to watch with it playing Batman The Animated Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation and everything in between. I have an MA in Radio and Television Production and have written for various sites, hope you enjoy my articles/lists for What Culture!
